Jungian Sandplay
Process your experience using miniature objects in the sand
Service Description
Sandplay therapy is a non-verbal, creative arts therapy in which the client creates a three-dimensional picture with miniature objects in a tray filled with sand. This is a representation of the client's inner world. It is useful for both children and adults, or adolescents who may not want to talk about their experiences. The sandplay process is witnessed by a practitioner trained in Jungian Sandplay. The therapist supports the client to feel free to make whatever they need to in the tray, whilst maintaining boundaries to ensure safety in the therapeutic space. As the client moves the sand and/or objects in the sand, their inner feelings, thoughts or experiences are expressed; and new pathways in the brain are configured. The power of sandplay is that it by-passes words, by using our pre-verbal language of symbols and metaphor. This facilitates bringing the unconscious to awareness and creating change. This is particularly helpful if psychological wounding is pre-verbal.
